Quicken had a couple ideas leading ultimately a Vanguard problem. I get an "Oops Quicken can not communicate with Vanguard" message every time.
#QUICKEN FOR MAC UPDATE AN ERROR OCCURRED WHILE UPDATING MAC#
A couple months ago I re-started using Quicken on my Mac after not using it for a couple years on a Windows machine. I've been trying to connect Vanguard to Quicken and have been unsuccessful for a while. The OFX log, as bertilak mentions above, shows OFX login attempts to Vanguard via quicken are "failed due in invalid credentials" (even though my username/password work just fine on the web login to Vang.) all have no effect for meĬreating an entirely new quicken data file and attempting to connect to your Vanguard accounts also results in an OL-220-A error Resetting the account within quicken, refreshing the financial institution branding and profile, rebooting, etc. You get error OL-220-A "quicken is unable to complete your request"

Specifically, I'm referring to when you have quicken download from Vanguard set up using the "direct connect" method, But in the meantime they recommended NOT touching or changing anything in one's quicken setup as the problem is on their end. Vanguard web services tech support this morning acknowledged that there is a known problem, is it being worked, and there is no known timeframe for it to be resolved. Maybe an admin can change the thread title - it is not "Solved" (or at least not the specific current problem this thread has morphed into addressing) Duplicate transactions are being downloaded on subsequent days when of course a transaction should only be downloaded once. I and others are having problems with USAA since they updated their logins and we now have Direct Connect connections. I will just have to wait until Quicken/Vanguard fixes this bug. I tried to do a reset of the accounts this morning and Quicken locks up. All accounts are configured to display on Vanguard as you describe and always have been. Yes, sometimes that happens, but it always (until a couple of days ago) corrects itself.ĭownloads failed again this morning with same error. I did nothing before the problem started or after it started in terms of selecting how I displayed my accounts at Vanguard.

I closed Quicken, rebooted my computer, launched Quicken, backed up my data file, ran update on two different logons for 9 accounts at Vanguard and the updates that hadn't worked for a number of days this week, including 1/2 hour ago, now did. Are you saying you did and then the problem started?Įdit 12 minutes later. My error began happening without me changing anything on the Vanguard site. I can make them happen at will as described. The symptoms were solid and consistent for three days and then corrected as I described. In my case it didn't correct itself even over a thee day period. Occasionally it takes a retry, perhaps waiting an hour or so. Yes, the download process is not 100% reliable. I hate to say it, but you may need to get used to shutting down the app every other day or so (depending on how often you run the update). I have to shut down Q, open it back up again and then the download works perfectly fine. Every third day, Schwab and TIAA receive the generic error. I don't have the problem with Vanguard, but I have Schwab, Fidelity, and TIAA. one that I have had for a couple of years and Quicken appears uninterested in solving (if you review their customer service posts you'll see dozens of people with what appears to be the exact same problem). I believe that this mimics a relatively common problem. I have sent this info to both Vanguard and Quicken support. Of course the fix is simple: don't deselect accounts you want to download! I went through both Vanguard and Quicken support, neither of who could tell me what was wrong. If you deselect an account that Quicken expects to get data for that data doesn't get downloaded and Quicken gets confused, resulting in the above error message. (At least with Direct Connect which is what I have configured.) It also determines which accounts get downloaded with Quicken's one-step-update. "You can choose which accounts will display and in what order on your account overview and balances and holdings pages." When looking at Vanguard's "Balances and holdings" page there is an option to "Customize this page" (upper right). A few days ago it started to fail on Vanguard downloads with a pretty useless error message (in red):
